my time with az
so we are watching "jarhead" right now and it's really homoerotic. not just hot sweaty guys playing football homoerotic, but like marines simulating gay sex in the desert and jay gyllenhal with a santa hat on his dick and nothing else homoerotic. who new? but jake's body is crazy hot in the movie.
so my time with azad has been splendid. he may or may not be staying with us tonight. he was supposed to go to jersey tonight to stay with our high school friend ron, but the plan got a bit messed up so we might get him for one more night, which i am so happy about.
he has been here since thursday and we have spent most of our time walking around brooklyn, gardening, eating and just chilling. we even watched the chicago bulls win today. GO BULLS! i really like him being around and have tried to bribe him to move here (i told him i would buy him a table and a bench he liked in north slope). alas, it did not work. he has a job and family and such he must tend to in chicago. oh bother.
on thursday i went to stony brook and did a guest lecture in this transgender theory class (its a women's studies class there). it went ok, they laughed at my jokes and asked some good questions. i also got to take the LIRR out to stony brook and see what that part of long island looks like. the further east you go the more trampolines, pools and subdivisions you see. i took the train home and az and jes met up at atlantic avenue and we walked home and got something to eat at daisy's diner.
on friday az and i walked around prospect park after he picked up a egg, cheese, and ham bagel sandwich at terrace bagels. on our way, we found this sign:
how cool is that?
and here is a pic of handsome az with a pretty blooming tree in prospect park:
after our walk around the park, we came back here and started clearing out the garden in the backyard so as to prepare it for our day of planting on saturday. it looked so amazing just after our initial clean up and it exhausted me. we showered and then met jes up at jay street and made our way to benny's burritos. after that we headed back to brooklyn to cattyshack to meet up with some of the supper club girls. here is a few pics of our journey on friday:
jes and az playing galaga at the bar. jes got the highest score. how sexy is that?
and here is kim, glennda and ali:
after the bar, we drove home and on the way back to the apartment i was snapping a few shots of az and jes, here is one of my favs:
on saturday we worked from about 9am until about 7pm on the garden. i will post those pics separately. after we washed the seven layers of soil off us, we headed to fort greene to have dinner at rice. this was, by far, our best meal while azad was here. we had to wait a long time for our table but it was totally worth it. we even got dessert: this ok chocolate cupcake and these delish mini ice cream sandwiches. one was ginger lemon, one was cranberry something and the third was chocolate chip coffee. so good.
after dinner we headed over to this bar moe's. it was hip hop night and they played some good music. we stayed for one drink and then came home and collapsed in the bed. heres a pic from last night:
today me and azad walked around some more. i showed him the co-op and we looked at used books and brooklyn industries. az got me some books on gardening and i got some pretty flowers for the planter right outside the window where i sit and write my dissertation. we planted those and watched the bulls and now jarhead is over.
i'm tired, so i am going to hit the hay. tomorrow starts my two week dissertation boot camp. ugh.
