a good movie to check out
hey yall
jes and i watched the documentary "murderball" last night.
put it on your netflix, its a good one
i know i said i would post about the l word, and i hope to do that tomorrow. stay tuned.
and how sad is it that chris? penn (sean penn's brother) died.
again, i don't know the guy, but it still sucks when someone so young just up and dies.
i also found out that dr. nellie mckay, the famous african american writer and scholar died yesterday as well. this is very sad as i knew she was struggling with cancer b/c one of the women in my atlanta writing group named lynn had her as an advisor. i believe she started the african american studies department at university of wisconsin at madison. a true trailblazer. i found an article about her life and death yesterday and i loved that one of her colleagues talked about how she could have worked at being a real rock star academic (i mean, she was, but what i think he meant is that she could have been pulling in all this money for herself on the lecture circuit), but instead she used her time to work at building community. how profound is that? rest in peace professor mckay.
ok i stink. i am going to take a bath.
sweet dreams.
