my brain is turning to mush

now mind you
jes and i did not actually get up out the bed until 11am today, largely in part because larry took to waking us up about every hour on the hour meowoing from before dawn until about 9am. i keep thinking this is good training for kids. anywho larry (and his siblings) have slept THE ENTIRE DAY. i am not kidding. he and emily sleep just twelve inches from me as i type.

so yeah, i have had the entire day to do whatever:
clean, write dissertation, work, work out, grocery shop, letter write, explore the big apple.

but here is what i have done:
tidied the kitchen
cleaned the bathroom
washed the couch covers
washed the small rugs
taken the large rug out back and beat it with a broom
ate some cereal
ate some lasagna (that i had frozen weeks ago; it still tastes great)
wrote my goddaughter alix a short letter
watched "the bodyguard," some HGTV show on unique houses in the cold north, watched parts of "you've been served," and now i am watching "pretty woman"
ate some sunflower seeds
drank some chocolate soy milk
printed out pictures of alice from the l word b/c i want her old hairstyle

it looks like a long list, but really most of the day has been about me, on my ass, in front of the television. and in little over an hour, i go to glennda and kim's to watch the worst show ever: the l word
i just hope they show more of carmen in her undies. thank god for carmen

this weekend was low key but enjoyable. on friday night i met jes at her school with hopes of looking at suits in downtown brooklyn and then heading to dinner and a movie. we stopped at banana republic, and as usual, were invisible to all working there. so we gave up and headed to dinner. we went to this place in maybe cobble hill or downtown brooklyn called "pacifico." jes was not nuts about it, but i liked it. we got *very* strong margaritas, jes got this HUGE plate of nachos and i got this delicious plate of grilled salmon, guacamole, mango, pineapple, and some other stuff. it was very good. after dinner we took the train over to near our house and saw the movie "match point" with scarlet johannson. it didn't suck, but i would wait for it to come out on dvd if you have not seen it yet. she was divine looking of course, and played the part well. i was quite surprised at the arc of the plot and the ending.

after working/studying on saturday morning, jes and i headed out to soho to continue looking for a suit for her. she has a summer internship job fair at nyu next week or the week after and needs what i call "teacher clothes" for it. the hunt for a suit started out rocky. there is no way in hizzel that jes is going to rock a women's suit. she would be uncomfortable and that is no good when you are being interviewed. so we started looking at men's suit. unfortunately, most places do not carry suits smaller than size 36. she needs more like a 34 or maybe 32, so we were shit out of luck there too. we decided that she would be best in a nice pair of trousers, a crisp shirt, a sweater, and a tie. so we spent the remainder of the day acquiring said clothing. she got a few nice pair of women's trousers from gap (and i think they will fit me, yippee!), a few sweaters, and a few fitted shirts. she just needs to get a few nice affordable ties and i think she is ready to go.

after our day of shopping, which strangely exhausts me- we met up with higgins at nowhere for a little buy one get one free drinks and, of course, a little erotic photo hunt. higgs was rocking a cute new outfit from marshalls. a little black wrap around shirt and cute flowy black pants, all of which tied in nicely to her RED SNAKESKIN BOOTS. hello hoochie shoes. she looked great. she had like twelve different events and/or dates to go on after drinks with us, and she was happy to report she did not get derunk at any of them. go higgs!

after higgs left jes and i went to kate's joint for a little din din and then back to nowhere to be friends with christian. i was so exhausted so we left fairly early to come home and *try* to watch our netflix movie "murderball". it had a scratch on it so it didn't work. i was so very sad b/c i wanted to watch it. i watched about one minute of saturday night live and then promptly fell asleep.

ok larry is up and- big surprise here- meowing. i must tend to his needs

tomorrow is my friend elin's birthday. happy birthday!

if you get that haircut you'd better post a photo. that's a great 'do. I also watched the worst-show-ever, with high hopes, but even carmen was a little annoying. she was the one saving the show, but now who's going to do it?
